Benjamin Yonin is a PhD student in Assyriology at the Hebrew University

His doctoral thesis explores the manifestation of Mesopotamian deities in the human realm within the realm of ritual thinking. The study centers on the ritual for covering the liturgical kettledrum, using it as a conceptual framework to demonstrate how gods were believed to appear through ritual and myth. His research aims to establish intertextual connections between various texts associated with this specific ritual and other Mesopotamian ritual texts. The study seeks to illuminate broader patterns of divine manifestation in Mesopotamian religious thought.

Benjamin holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Art History, as well as an M.A. in Bible Studies, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem
