Coming from a science background, Joyce P.Y. Leung has now turned her strengths enthusiastically to the study of ancient Mesopotamia. She completed a MA in Bible and Ancient Near East at the Rothberg International School (RIS) of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI). Under the supervision of Professor Uri Gabbay, she became a member of the Ancient Mesopotamian Priestly Scholasticism (AMPS) research team in 2022. She is currently a PhD student in Assyriology at HUJI. Her research focuses on the Emesal Vocabulary Tablets and their correlation with relevant literary texts. By combining philological and comparative approaches, the research aims to investigate the authority attribution of the priestly-scholarly texts in the first millennium BCE and to present the scholasticism on preservation of ancient languages across time and space.
